Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 12:08PM Say It Ain't So.... A 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' Remake?
So I'm sitting here, just browsing the 'net when I come across this tidbit of movie news. And usually I can sit back and think logically about something I read and put it into words. So I apologize if this somehow comes off as nonsensical gibberish.
Brace yourselves. Fox 2000 is tapping Ryan Murphy, the creator of Glee, to potentially do a remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
I'll give you a minute to take that in.

Yes, in this era of remakes, someone seems to think it's a good idea to revisit quite possibly the worst-movie-ever-turned-cult-following. Having seen it, the movie is downright horrible. I've seen it with the live casts and people yelling at the screen. Even all of them admit it's an awful movie.
Even from Fox's perspective, how could this be a good idea? Hope to make money off of name recognition only? Somehow tap that cult following into their remake? I honestly can't see this working in any way, shape, or form. Not if they still want to call it The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Please let this just fall away, and become something that never sees the light of day. Leave this movie alone, it's been through enough.
However, to add to this rumor, apparently Glee is doing an episode in tribute to The Rocky Horror Picture Show. That's probably why Fox is talking to Ryan Murphy about it.

Well, look what they did with "Hairspray". Ultimately it would be a move to see if it catches fire with a new generation but if they didn't go for "Repo: The Genetic Opera" I don't think they'd be willing to do the time warp again, let alone for the first time, with a remake. Just do a little tribute episode of "Glee" and let it go at that.
