Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 7:07AM Philip Seymour Hoffman May be Venomous to 'Spider-Man Reboot'
Just to recap, as you may know the Spider-Man Reboot is going to be completely revamped from the previous series. Tobey Maguire is out and is replace by Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. Emma Stone may be in for Mary Jane replacing Kirsten Dunst. Philip Seymour Hoffman might be Venom. Yes, you heard me right, Freddie Miles (Talented Mr. Ripley) may be Spidey's arch nemesis in the new Spider-Man movie.
"What, Venom? Yeah, I can pull it off, I'm Philip Seymour Goddam# Hoffman."
Now I'm not sure whether he's going to be the Eddie Brock version of Venom or the Mac Gagan version but either way, Hoffman may need to get started on his P90X exercises because when I think of Seymour Hoffman, I don't think of a real-life version of this guy:
Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Sony is talking to Hoffman to play the main villain in the movie. Aside from this, they have narrowed down the candidates to play Mary Jane to Dianna Agron, Georgina Haig, Emma Stone, Mia Wasikowska, and Dominique McElligott.
What do you guys think? Can Hoffman play Venom? He's always been the villain but I'm not sure I see him in this role.

Assuming the "main" villain is venom. It may be that Venom "pulling itself together" is a subplot. Wasn't this movie supposed to include Mysterio and or the Vulture?
Frankly, there's been so much speculation and movement going on here, I've lost track.
P90X! Hilarious.
Hoffman is an odd choice for Venom, but very talented actor.
Hoffman is too old to play Venom if they are doing a movie about a high school age Spider Man, though I give them credit for thinking outside the box. Emma Stone on the other hand would be perfect casting.
The p90x was a good one. But heyyy come on Phil hoffman is a fine actor with an impeccable resume , one of the best of his generation no doubt, I kinda hope he doesnt go the comic book movie route especially with a relatively new director, rather see him do more ensemble roles and indie films which is excellent at
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That's a good one guys, kinda like when you said Eddie Murphy was going to be playing the Riddler, and how Will Smith was in talks to play Captain America. Hilarious, Philip Seymour Hoffman... you guys crack me up, that'd be the worst casting in years, almost like putting 105 pound, pale, weak, mousy Topher Grace in the role of Venom!
