"I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is."

There are so many memorable quotes in this movie and many years after its release, it gained a cult following. Still, in order to appeal to a larger audience, Viacom is looking to remind people of Derek Zoolander through a series of animated digital shorts. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Zoolander 2 is gaining steam and will be developed sooner rather than later. In fact, Justin Theroux has already been commissioned to write and direct the film.
I see what Viacom is trying to do with the animated shorts, but personally, I don't think its needed. In fact, turning Derek Zoolander into a comic character might actually be damaging. No they don't need to do this gimmicky mini-series, I think the timing is just right to bring back Zoolander. The challenge that I see is bringing back Ben Stiller as a supermodel since he's ten years older but maybe the film will be about a modeling protege of Zoolander, who knows?

For anybody who saw the Giants parade, I think Aubrey Huff did plenty to keep Zoolander on top of many people's minds! (See this video starting at the 2:00 mark if you're morbidly curious what I'm talking about...)
Also, I don't think that Stiller being older is necessarily a problem. I always thought that one of the jokes in the first movie was that he and Owen Wilson don't, um, exactly look like models in the first place.
