Monday, November 15, 2010 at 2:15PM 'Cowboys & Aliens' Teaser Poster: Nice Chaps
The teaser poster for Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens has gone live, with the early trailer due to follow this coming Wednesday afternoon. Even without the trailer, the poster makes the film look like an homage to Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series, if his Gunslinger had a laser gatling-gun strapped to his arm.

The film stars the primordial James Bond Daniel Craig as Jake Lonergan, a cowboy with a hazy recollection of his past, or how he got foreign technology bolted to his body. He travels to a town called Absolution where he encounters a group of people living in fear of Colonel Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford), completely unaware that something is rapidly descending from the sky to exterminate them. From there you can pretty much figure out where this movie's going; Lonergan must come to terms with his fading memories, rally the town, and band together with his former enemies to take on a greater threat. Oh yeah, and he'll probably be fighting aliens with a laser wrist-cannon. Sweet.
With Favreau at the helm, though, this could shape up to be a surprisingly decent action ride. In addition to Ford and Craig, he's also enisted Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano and TRON: Legacy's Olivia Wilde in supporting roles, which gives the film a lot more street cred than it could have managed without such a well-rounded cast. And let's be honest, any movie that bases its first poster around the juxtaposition of Old West and futuristic weaponry with Daniel Craig's over-worked backside has to have something to be confident about.
Cowboys & Aliens is due for release on July 29th, 2011.
