Monday, November 22, 2010 at 5:03PM Billy Bob Thornton to Direct 'Jayne Mansfield's Car' and Star in 'Bad Santa' Sequel?
With Dwayne Johnson's action, revenge flick Faster opening in theaters this week, co-star Billy Bob Thornton has begun to discuss upcoming projects he's interested in. One of those projects involves him returning to the director's chair with a script for the movie Jayne Mansfield's Car, according to slashfilm.com.
He hasn't directed a film since 2001. It feels like it's been ages since he directed hit movies like All the Pretty Horses and the Academy award-winning Sling Blade.

Thornton co-wrote the script for Jayne Mansfield's Car with writer Tom Epperson, who penned the script for the Sam Raimi thriller The Gift, back in 2000. The premise of the movie is unknown, but there's speculation that it will be in reference to the fatal car crash the famous actress and her husband died in while driving a '66 Buick Electra 225, according to slashfilm.com. The two hope to get the movie made by spring.
In an interview with Collider, Thornton also talked about wanting to make a sequel for the dark comedy Bad Santa, but it would take some power to do so.
"And there's been talk of making a sequel to it, which I would actually like to do. I've never done a sequel to one of my movies, but that one makes sense to me to do it. [It would probably take] a director who's got the juice to, with whoever makes it, you know puts up the money to get it in blood. That's the way you have to do it , and hopefully it'll work," Thornton said.
I can't speak for other movie goers, but I would love to see a sequel to the hilarious comedy.
