Friday, November 26, 2010 at 11:01PM 'Ghostbusters 3' Casting Rumors
While Ghostbusters 3 is still in the will-it-ever-get-made phase, it seems there's news that's always pushing it towards the "will be made" end of the spectrum. Despite Bill Murray's objections to making a new Ghostbusters film, it's also been rumored that Dan Aykroyd is reworking the script and that Sony was hoping for a 2011 start date. But now, to go with all these items we've talked about at one time or another, we now have some potential casting news to go with them.

The first (and most likely) casting is of Anna Faris, and I whole-heartedly support this one. Anna Faris has been one of my favorite comedic actresses of late (though we don't need to mention how bad her role was written in Just Friends), and is one of those actresses that seems to be on the verge of a breakout role. Not saying this would be the role, but it would likely open up more mainstream roles for her.
The second and third rumors are for Will Forte and Bill Hader, both of whom are SNL alumni. Much like Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd were. Coincidence? Probably, but it's still an interesting one. I don't have much of an opinion on either of those, since I haven't watched much SNL in the past few years or caught any of their latest projects.
I'd like to hear your thoughts. What do you think of these potential cast members? Or rather, who would you rather see cast in the likely-to-happen third Ghostbusters movie?

Here is some outside the box casting: Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Conan O'Brien.
I think both Hader and Forte are hilarious. MacGruber was one of the funniest movies I've seen all year, and Hader was good in movies like Hot Rod (one of my favorite all-time comedies) and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
I'm looking forward to Ghostbusters III, but am a little worried. I heard those rumors about Murray being a cameo and/or that they'll be killing off Peter Venkman. For me, both of those aspects repel my interest in this movie. I love Ghostbusters and I'll admit, Peter Venkman is my favorite character. All that put aside, I don't see how anyone can deny that Venkman is the who Ghostbusters is most notorious for (I believe the absence of Venkman is why Extreme Ghostbusters (the cartoon) was so unpopular.). In my opinion, killing off Peter Venkman will break the back of the Ghostbusters franchise. I can't see anything productive, constructive, far much less anything entertaining that can come out of something like that. I hope this movie won't kill off Peter Venkman because if so, I won't be going to see it. I know this is just entertainment, but seeing that is something I'll just not be able to bring myself to do. I'd rather not because in some cases, ignorance really is bliss and if not that, at least cheaper than spending money for tickets to see a bad movie
If they have hader and forte in it why not samburg to even it out?
