Scarlett Johansson is one very busy woman. Earlier this week we reported the actress had been cast as an "alien seductress" in the new sci-fi film Under the Skin and had made the shortlist for the role of Daisy in Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby.
Well now you can add another credit to that list as Cameron Crowe has cast her alongside Matt Damon in his upcoming adaptation of the Benjamin Mee memoir, We Bought a Zoo.
We Bought a Zoo is the true story of an American man that moves his family to the English countryside in order to run a zoo. Damon will play Benjamin and Johansson his wife. Also in the cast is the always great Thomas Hayden Church.
Amy Adams, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Rachel McAdams were all up for the role landed by Johansson, but Crow must have seen something in her that gave her a leg up.
While I think Johansson is a very capable actress, I think her talents fall a little short in comparison to the other three actresses listed above. But then again I thought the same thing about Kate Hudson before Crowe put her in Almost Famous and I think we can all say that turned out a-okay. So hopefully Crowe's direction and Damon's performance can bring that little extra out of Johansson.
We Bought a Zoo is scheduled for a Christmas 2011 release and Johansson can be seen hosting SNL this Saturday the 13th.
