I always think that the Golden Globes' categories are weird. I mean, Alice in Wonderland is a musical or comedy? But at the same time, having more categories does give the HFPA a chance to recognize more films, which I think is a good thing.
There are two instances of two actresses from the same movie going against each other in the same category: Annette Bening and Julianne Moore for The Kids Are All Right, and Amy Adams and Melissa Leo for The Fighter. Traditional thinking says that the votes will be split among nominees from the same film, costing them all the award.
The biggest snub I see here is The Town. It only received a single nomination (for Jeremy Renner's supporting performance). Other than that, there aren't many surprises that jump out at me.
Any surprises you see above? Any shocking omissions? We'd love to hear your opinions, so share them with us below.

The Tourist doesn't deserve a single Golden Globe for anything, unless they consider it a comedy because of how laughable the chemistry was between the lead actors. I'd love to hear their rationale for those.
And where's True Grit?
Alice in Wonderland and The Tourist getting multiple nods show what a joke the Golden Globes really are. Wake me up when the Oscars noms are announced.
Im also surprised The Town's not on here. I wasn't expecting an Oscar for Afleck's directing, but I thought he'd get a nod for adapting the screenplay, at LEAST for the Globes. I'm glad Renner's getting recognized, though; the guy's incredible.
Sigh. The Globes always seem like the ugly step-sister to the Oscars, but the winners often go on to take the top awards at both ceremonies, so it'll be interesting to see how it turns out. And to see everyone get drunk at the venue, as per usual. =)
I can't believe I missed the complete True Grit snub. Probably because it's not out yet and I haven't seen it yet, but that's no excuse for the HFPA.
I thought about that too Mike, but they did include The Fighter which isn't out until this Friday.
DiCaprio got snubbed.
I was quite surprised to see 127 Hours left out of best picture. I have a feeling, or am hopeful at least, that it will take over The Fighter's position in that list come Oscar time. Or maybe it's just Franco's fantastic performance that needs to lead the pack where that movie is concerned... He deserves all the accolades that are coming for that movie.
Otherwise I'm really happy to see all of the Social Network love.
'The Tourist' deserves it's Best Comedy nomination because it was hilarious how bad that film was...
But seriously, Ben Affleck and Danny Boyle deserved Best Director nods. Other than that everything looks pretty kosher.
