Friday, December 24, 2010 at 10:04AM Mark Millar Claims "Most High Profile Actor of 2010" On Board for 'Superior'

For those of you that don't know, Mark Millar is one of the most influential and cutting edge comic book writers today. Some of his more noteworthy work includes Kick-Ass, Marvel's Civil War, and Ultimate X-Men. Another thing you should know about Millar is that he has terrible diarrhea of the mouth. He tends to release "news" by saying things without thinking and some of which aren't even true. For example, Kick-Ass 2 has been greenlit or that Wanted 2 is definitely still happening.
Today, Millar opened his mouth again with some pretty significant "news" about the adaptation of his most recent work, Superior. Hit the jump to see what he had to say and to find out a little more about the source material.
Millar posted this on his Twitter page earlier today:
“Huge News: Superior movie just locked down most high profile actor of 2010. Official release in January. PS Issue 3 is out today. GET SOME!!”
So, the most high profile actor of this year, huh? Okay. And who might that be? Some other sites are speculating it may be Leonardo DiCaprio, coming off of 2010's Inception and Shutter Island, but I'm not sold. I can't think of an actor that had a bigger year than DiCaprio, but his future slate is booked solid through 2013 and I don't see him leaving another project for this. But I could be wrong.
Love him or hate, there's no arguing Millar's talents and he definitely doesn't disappoint when it comes to sound bites. Hearing him talk about the Kick-Ass footage shown at 2009's Comic Con was definitely the highlight of the weekend for me, and virtually everyone else in Hall H that day.
As far as Superior goes, the comic is about Simon, a wheelchair-bound teenager with multiple sclerosis who is transformed into his favorite superhero, Superior, by an alien named Orman. Sounds a little like Captain Marvel meets Thor with a little Green Lantern on top. But, even though I haven't had a chance to check it out myself, I'm sure Millar's take on the material is definitely worth a read.
We'll keep you posted on any casting news (or anything else worth while that comes out of Millar's mouth for that matter) as we hear it.

Think about it: MOST high profile in 2010 is Sam Worthington.
Johnny Depp? A billion dollar flick and an (undeserved) Golden Globe nomination.
On the other hand, if the character is a teenager then somebody like Jesse Eisenberg maybe.
I do Believe there was a man by the name of James Franoc who had a fairly steelar year as well. I would think it was a bigger year for him than Di Caprio
