Saturday, December 25, 2010 at 3:55PM Most Anticipated Films of 2011 - Part 2 of 2
**As this article ended up being quite the undertaking, here's part 2, covering film releases in mostly the last half of 2011. To read the first article, here's the link.**
I don't think I've been more excited for movies scheduled to be released in a given year more than 2011. There's so many movies that just look so great on paper and in trailers that everywhere I turn, there's a film I want to see. For example, just between my Part 1 article of this series and now, I'd have two more movies to add to the first half of the year. I had forgotten about Your Highness, which looks like good, raunchy fun, and the trailer for Hanna looked freaking amazing.
I could probably go on about how good 2011 looks for quite some time, but you're here for the list, so let's continue, then we can discuss! I've also added the director to these movies, due to popular demand (okay, one reader requested it, but it was a good idea).

Cars 2 - 6/24
Starring: Owen Wilson, Michael Caine, Michael Keaton
Directed by: John Lasseter, Brad Lewis
Synopsis: Racing star Lightning McQueen teams up with his best friend Mater for an international adventure as they go up against the world's fastest cars.
Another family flick, and a sequel to an already successful movie. It'll do awesome.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon - 7/1
Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Tyrese Gibson
Directed by: Michael Bay
Synopsis: The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the Moon, and race against the Decepticons to reach it and learn its secrets, which could turn the tide in the Transformers' final battle.
Will this be the longest music video of all time, or has Micheal Bay learned from the last two?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two - 7/15
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint
Directed by: David Yates
Synopsis: This is the second half of Harry Potter series' last installment. Harry, Ron and Hermione had finally been caught by the Death Eathers.
Yeah, I'm a Potter fan, and The Deathly Hallows Part One was great, unlike The Half-Blood Prince. If Part Two is like Part One, it should be a proper conclusion to the Harry Potter movie franchise.

Captain America: The First Avenger - 7/22
Starring: Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving
Directed by: Joe Johnston
Synopsis: After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending America's ideals.
Will Chris Evans survive this comic franchise, and effectively move on to carry The Avengers? Can't help but wonder if we're oversaturating this market. This would be our fourth highly-recognizable comic book movie this summer.

Cowboys and Aliens - 7/29
Starring: Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde
Directed by: Jon Favreau
Synopsis: A spaceship arrives in Arizona, 1873, to take over the Earth, starting with the Wild West region. A posse of cowboys are all that stand in their way.
Cowboys. Aliens. Daniel Craig. Harrison Ford. Olivia Wilde. Jon Favreau. I'm sold.

Conan the Barbarian - 8/19
Starring: Jason Momoa, Ron Perlman, Rose McGowan
Directed by: Marcus Nispel
Synopsis: The tale of Conan the Cimmerian and his adventures across the continent of Hyboria on a quest to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village.
3D or not, will this one actually work? I want it to. Conan can use a modernization, but it's too soon to tell. And while it has some recognizable names (Ron Perlman, Rose McGowan), casting a mostly unknown actor named Jason Momoa seems like it could be a risk. Or pay off handsomely.

Contagion - 10/21
Starring: Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Marion Cotillard
Directed by: Steven Soderbergh
Synopsis: An action-thriller centered on the threat posed by a deadly disease and an international team of doctors contracted by the CDC to deal with the outbreak.
It's about time we've had a movie about another disease. And Matt Damon rarely disappoints. Neither does the rest of the cast. Neither does Steven Soderbergh. Yeah, this one should be good.

Paranormal Activity 3 - 10/21
Starring: Katie Featherston
Directed by: Tod Williams
Synopsis: Not Available
A scary movie without the blood and gore. Loved the last two, and if they continue with the same formula, it's going to be big.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I - 11/18
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner
Directed by: Bill Condon
Synopsis: The Quileute and the Volturi close in on expecting parents Edward and Bella, whose unborn child poses different threats to the wolf pack and vampire coven.
While not a Twilight fan, the last movie was much better than the first two, so I'm hoping this one follows suit.

Sherlock Holmes 2 - 12/18
Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law
Directed by: Guy Ritchie
Synopsis: Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Dr. Watson join forces to outwit and bring down their fiercest adversary, Professor Moriarty.
Taking the first one as it was, and not a comparison to the story character, Sherlock Holmes was pretty entertaining. Downey is on a roll, and I want to see more of it. Also adding Stephen Fry and Noomi Rapace is just the icing on the cake.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - 12/21
Starring: Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara
Directed by: David Fincher
Synopsis: A journalist is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing -- or dead -- for forty years by a young female hacker.
The original foreign film was great. We reviewed it awhile back and gave it four out of five dudes/apes, and I do hope the remake is half as good as the original. Wonder if they'll tweak down the sex stuff. The original sure didn't pull any punches. But so little is known or seen about this one, I had to steal a picture from the original. The others were too grainy.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn - 12/23
Starring: Jamie Bell, Daniel Craig, Andy Serkis
Directed by: Steven Spielberg
Synopsis: Tintin and his friends discover directions to a sunken ship commanded by Capt. Haddock's ancestor and go off on a treasure hunt.
Looks visually amazing. The last animated story of the year, and features a much beloved character. Also directed by someone named Steven Spielberg, with an impressive voice cast (Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Cary Elwes, Jamie Bell).

Tin Tin is also written by Steven Moffat, who is the current showrunner for the BBC's Doctor Who and Sherlock; I'm really thrilled to see what he turns up for the feature. =)
Thanks Josh for including the name of the Director.
I am looking forward to most of these movies except for Paranormal Activity and Twilight.
The movie not included here that I am looking forward to is The Three Musketeers - for Christoph Waltz, Mads Mikkelson and Ray Stevenson.
Hmmm, didn't know that Cristen, that moves it up my must-see list.
I'm not quite sold on the Three Musketeers just yet, but it's looking better the more I see from it.
That Conan image isn't from the upcoming film: it's from an actor's showreel. There are picture of Jason Momoa out now, though.
Thanks Al, I was having trouble finding a good quality photo for Conan. I guess that's part of the problem, reporting on movies being released over half a year from now.
Three HUGE omissions: Hugo Cabret, War Horse and The Muppets. Seriously how could you leave out Scorsese, Spielberg and Henson?
(It's also worth mentioning that Mission Impossible IV is also slated to be released on 12/16 but I still say that get's moved. No way Paramount is dumb enough to try and open that against Sherlock and Alvin and the Chipmunks especially with Tintin coming the next week. On the other hand I'm not all that interested in that flick)
D,
That's one of the reasons why I didn't put Mission: Impossible IV on the list. I too suspect it will be moved. However, I'm kicking myself for forgetting The Muppets, and Hugo Cabret and War Horse both look good. So, my list of 24, adding 5-6... 30 highly anticipated movies in 2011? I don't think I even liked that many from 2010, let alone was interested in 30. And that's assuming no one else brings any other films to my attention, which is very possible.
Fashion is for everyone. A replica handbags for a modern woman are the ultimate symbol of fashion-consciousness. The status and hence the Alexander Wang Handbags have gained such enormous popularity. They are 100% mirrored the designer ones and crafted from high quality materials. The Balenciaga Handbags are actually designed in such a manner that they're as close to the original as possible. In fact it is extremely difficult to identify one as a replica even if one observes minutely.
