Rumor Patrol: Patrick Stewart Not in 'Mad Max 4'

One of the shortest-lived rumors of the past few months concerned Patrick Stewart joining the cast of Mad Max: Fury Road. It broke last night, and it broke up earlier today. As it stands, Picard is not in the next Mad Max flick. Here's how it started: Stewart apparently told a fan in Australia recently, "I may be back here soon to film a movie with George Miller." Well, to the best of anyone's knowledge, Miller has two movies in the works: Happy Feet 2 and the return of the Road Warrior. What would you think? And what would you think if Stewart said it wasn't Happy Feet? Exactly. Ain't It Cool reported the quote as evidence that Stewart would be in Mad Max, and they wrote too soon. Stewart's rep announced today that the actor won't be in Mad Max 4. Oh. Well, OK then. So what the hell was Stewart talking about? Well, the director is working on a new version of Homer's The Odyssey, and that's prime real estate for a movie. And then there's always the shelved Justice League movie, but there's been no development on that film in over a year and Stewart is so closely linked with X-Men that I doubt he'd entertain that notion anyway. I guess that means it's The Odyssey. Unless it's not.
