'Clash of the Titans' (in 3-D) Coming Out April 2nd
Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 7:15PM
I just found out that Clash of the Titans will be released in 3-D and it will also get a new release date to facilitate the process that will convert it up from standard 2-D to the 3-D format.

We first heard that this might be happening a couple weeks ago, and a source let me know exclusively
that the film might have to be pushed back a bit to make everything work out. I guessed April 9th because Warner Bros. has The Losers on that weekend, so it could easily do a switcheroo on those two films. Not so. I'm told that new date is April 2nd and Prime Focus, which did some work on Avatar, is handling the 3-D transfer. Back in late September, when Prime Focus announced its conversion process, CEO Michael Fink said, "3-D moviemaking has proven to be more than a passing trend—it's rejuvenating international box offices and giving filmmakers a new storytelling technique that enriches the movie-going experience.
"Prime Focus is a visual effects facility, so we've been calculating 3-D space from 2D images for years, and we developed the technology behind View-D after having worked on several stereo 3-D shows," added Fink. "With View-D, we're offering the industry an exciting new production method to convert both library titles and new releases to terrific stereoscopic quality in considerably less time than other methods."
So this move frees up March 26th for How to Train Your Dragon and puts Titans up against Repo Men. It's also the first time in a while Tyler Perry has real competition, so I don't expect Why Did I Get Married Too? to bust out of the gate at number one. This is just the beginning for 3-D conversions at Warner Bros. It was previously reported (and now confirmed) that the final two Harry Potter films will be put through the process, as well.

I hate 3D, but I'm kinda interested in seeing this one now. Actually, no wait, no, I'm not going to pay to see it in 3D. It's stupid. I'm definitely not going to pay for 3D for the new Harry Potter either.
Has this happened where two big 3D releases came out within a week of each other? Does that mean then that How to Train Your Dragon will have one week to make a statement before Titans takes most (or at least half) of its 3D screens? Also, the week in which Titans opens is an extremely crowded one as you mentioned, and you left out one of the bigger releases that week as well: The Last Song with Miley Cyrus. So literally every audience will be catered that weekend.
I am so excited to see this movie out on 3D. Gonna see as the clash begins. :D
