Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 2:35PM Johnny Depp Making Keith Richards Documentary
Johnny Depp really has a thing for Keith Richards. He modeled Captain Jack Sparrow after the Rolling Stones guitarist, and most of his fashion seems to take its inspiration from Richards, too. Of course, Depp and Richard also paired up for the third Pirates movie, because by that point, what was the difference?
Now Depp tells a European site (via The Playlist) that he will begin working on another directorial project, his first since 1997, and that that it will be a Keefumentary.
"Now that I'm wiser, and that enough time has passed, I can experience directing again," Depp says. "Already next week I'll start working on a Keith Richards documentary. While I'm in Drvengrad, my editor is already working on kilometers of archive footage and footage of his concerts. I'm very touched that Keith agreed to show up in front of my cameras."
It's probably more a vanity project than anything else; I wouldn't expect it to get a major release, even for a documentary. I guess Depp is as good a guy to board the project as anyone. He knows Richards intimately, he can afford to do it, and it will probably be appropriately roughhewn.
