Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 11:44AM Foxx and Kutcher to Fulfill Buddy Cop Movie Destiny
If we learned anything from Cop Out and Valentine's Day, it's just how much we need a buddy cop movie with Jamie Foxx and Ashton Kutcher. The V-Day co-stars are set to star in an action comedy called Streets of Fire, which the Kutch will co-produce, as well.

Pajiba has the story, and if it's accurate, then this is every other cop movie going: Straight-laced cop vs. cocky cop. They hate each other. They put their differences aside to take down a drug cartel. Fascinating stuff. Truly.
In fairness, Streets of Fire made the 2009 Black List, the industry's top un-produced screenplays. But the Black List has kind of been watered down, too; for every Juno or Slumdog Millionaire, there's a Rendition, Eagle Eye, or How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.
Again in fairness, I praised The Crazies for playing by the rules and just being a solid genre picture, so there's certainly a chance that the script for Streets of Fire does the same thing. That would be refreshing given the majority of Kutcher's and Foxx' collective output.
I remember interviewing Jamie Foxx after he won the Academy Award and I pleaded with him not to do the Nicolas Cage thing where he takes a bunch of bad movies to cash in. Maybe I should have been more specific.

For the record, Cop Out was on the black list as well.
Well, there you go.
