Frequent Big Picture commenter "anybody" found this for us on Tumblr, and I'm sure something like this went through a lot of peoples' minds when it was revealed that John Krasinski from The Office might play the lead role in The First Avenger: Captain America. It shouldn't need much introduction, but if you're new to Cap, the crimson-faced Nazi is Red Skull.

He's great on The Office, but let's not reinvent the wheel for Captain America. Find a guy with action chops.

But I do think Krasinsky did good in Away We Go...I bought that, but this UMMM NO!!!
Hahahah, funny! Right about now though I'm really feeling for Krasinsky. I mean, he's made it through all these auditions so he must be doing something right in them? I'm wondering if he's a sleeper-hero!!! Especially with that red striped tie :D
He's just a tall lanky guy. Maybe he could play stever rogers before he becomes captain america.

IEverybody griped when Michael Keaton was chosen for Batman, when Tobey Maguire was chosen for Spider-Man, and when Heath Ledger was chosen for the Joker. They all did well. Maybe Krasinski will surprise us too.
I didn't gripe over any of those. Plus, they all had terrific scripts and directors, and had previously established themselves as good, versatile actors. Captain America is headed in the wrong way in a hurry.
