New 'Judge Dredd' Flick to Be More Like the Comic

Do you want a new Judge Dredd? The comic's creator, John Wagner, sure does, and he says a reboot is going very well. It still doesn't have a distributor, as far as we know, so there's no guarantee it will ever get off the ground, but Alex Garland, who wrote 28 Days Later and Jock, the artist for The Losers comic book, are working on concepts for the film that have Wagner very happy. "I have read the script and seen Jock's visuals," Wagner told 2006 Ad Review. "While I can't go into detail about the content I can say that it's high-octane, edge-of-the-seat stuff, and gives a far truer representation of Dredd than the first movie." So suck on that, Stallone, and this, too, while you're at it. As often happens with movie adaptations, Wagner was not a fan of the 90s movie. "I hated that plot. It was Dredd pressed through the Hollywood cliche mill, a dynastic power struggle that had little connection with the character we know from the comic." Needless to say, Wagner likes the director Garland is taking his creation, but then again, compared to the first one, that wouldn't be hard to do. But he admits the project isn't out of the woods yet. "Confident? I will be once I hear they’ve started filming. There’s many a slip."
