Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 5:02AM Mark Millar Says 'Wanted 2' Script Almost Ready
What's happening with the Wanted sequel? Because Universal isn't exactly shipping out a steady stream of blockbusters - in 2009, the studio made less than two times what Avatar has grossed by itself - you'd think da U would be shoveling coal into the fire to speed up the engine on this one, but it's going to be at least three years between installments.

Mark Millar, who wrote the original comic book and swears he loves the noticeably different movie, tells IGN that it's all finally starting to come together, and he reveals that the action in the sequel will come right on the heels of the first movie, but with a more international flair.
At issue, of course, is the script, though Millar says the screenplay is slowly but surely meeting with everyone's satisfaction:

"We've been going back and forth with some ideas and everything, but there's a lot of people to please. I mean, there's Angelina Jolie, there's [director Timur Bekmambetov], and there's Universal, you know? Everybody's a perfectionist on it, so nobody wants to come in, cash the check, and take off. The screenplay's almost at the stage [that] people are getting happy with it. Some people had some problems with it a few months ago and some people didn't like it a month prior to that, the draft that was around. "I can't remember exactly when it's going to start shooting - I don't know if I can even officially say - but it will be soon, and it's almost ready, the script is almost ready."Summer 2011? Probably. That's what it sounds like, at least. If it's not, Universal will have really let this process take too long.
