'Percy Jackson' Star Wants to Play Spider-Man

A couple weeks ago, we asked you who you thought should play Peter Parker now that Sony is rebooting Spider-Man. I still can't get over that the studio is just folding up Sam Raimi's tent like that, but what's done is done: Marc Webb from (500) Days of Summer is stepping in to direct the next film, based on a script by Zodiac writer James Vanderbilt.

We kept out Spidey options open, including everyone from (500) Days star Joe Gordon-Levitt to, as much as it pained me to include him, Taylor Lautner. One guy who didn't get a lot of votes was Logan Lerman, who apparently paid no attention to our little survey, because he tells Access Hollywood he's had some contact with the filmmakers.

"There have been a few discussions; it's definitely something I'm looking into," the Percy Jackson star confimred. "It's one of my favorite characters ever and I'm a huge fan of the series. I'd love to have more conversations about it. I'm definitely very interested in it."

Of course, there are two ways these conversations could have originated: Lerman reached out to somebody or they reached out to him. If I had to guess, I'd say it's the first choice. It's just not that likely that Webb, just a few days on the job, is at this point yet.

The script has to come together, Webb has to make a few decisions about the shape of the film beyond that, which will almost certainly be guided stringently by the studio (or else we would still have Sam Raimi), and then I'm sure the studio will look at dollars and cents. This shouldn't cost anywhere near what the last film cost.

So, it could be that Lerman is trying to put himself in a favorable spot here, but I don't think they're near this decision yet.

Probably be a good choice!
