Friday, February 5, 2010 at 1:10PM 'Cop Out' Red Band Shows Slight Improvement
You know who will never outgrow dick jokes? Kevin Smith. The new Red Band trailer for his director-for-hire buddy cop movie, Cop Out, features more phallus references in under three minutes than you could ever need, certainly if you're old enough to watch a Red Band trailer.

Oh, they're fine from time to time, but you'd hope there's more on the table than that. The first theatrical trailer stinks and this is only better by virtue of the fact that it's less structured and there are more jokes. We see more of the bit with Tracy Morgan incorporating movie lines into his interrogatings, which is the funniest thing about this film so far. It's been in the commercials already, and it looks like the keeper scene.
Bruce Willis was on Letterman this week and said that in addition to the rejected and far superior title A Couple of Dicks, Cop Out was also operating under the name Copsuckers for a while. Someone ought to steal that. That's right, I'm condoning movie theft. Hey, we wouldn't be talking about Cop Out if writers hadn't pinched the buddy cop idea over and over again, so where's the harm?

I guess it's better to know that they're taking the comedy pretty far out there. I mean, this could always be Showtime or something on the buddy cop scale. But I'm still not in love with any of this. Cop Out opens on February 26th.

I know I'm a total Kevin Smith apologist, but I found this red band trailer to be a big improvement on the green band one. I'm a sucker for dick jokes, for little kids getting punched in the crotch, for the punchline of that "Knock Knock" joke that we saw the beginning of forever ago.
I don't know if that the best phrasing there Vince... "a sucker for dick jokes." Looks like a movie channel catch on a sunday with nothing better to do, meaning I'm sure I'll watch it eventually but not going to waste my time or money to hit the theatre.
That shit looks funny as hell!!!
When I saw the first green band trailer, I thought the bit with Sean William Scott would be the only funny thing in the movie. The rest just looked really lame.
But OK I admit it!! The red band trailer was funny. There is something to be said for going to a movie that just looked like some guys getting together to tell dirty jokes and insult each other! I am still laughing at the knock knock joke (not so much the joke itself, but Tracy Morgan with the "no, no, no hell no!:" and then the timing of the way Scott told the punch line.
"I'll fuck a lil kid up if he kicked me in the dick"! LMAO
