Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 1:00PM Video - Super Bowl XLIV Movie Commercials
Overall, I was disappointed by last year's assortment of Super Bowl ads. I'm hard pressed to remember a lot of them, which probably isn't good news for the companies that spent over $3 million for 30 seconds of airtime. This year, the Super Bowl will have even more commercials (60 to 45, according to Business Insider), so there will be even more competition in the biggest show of the year.

Even though the prices are a little more reasonable this year, you won't see a lot of movie ads, minute-long modified trailers, which have been a staple of the Super Bowl for years. I still remember The Matrix debuting during the Broncos-Falcons game in 1999. Hadn't ever seen anything like that. Last year, Monsters vs. Aliens spent over $10 million on a 3-D ad before halftime, a big waste of money that involved people picking up 3-D glasses at retailers.
So this year, we'll only get commercials from Paramount, Disney, and Universal among the major studios. Interestingly, the top two studios in town at the moment - Fox and Warner Bros. - are staying away, thinking it's more practical to stay away from such a crowded space. We don't have any spots from Disney yet (which will almost certainly include Alice in Wonderland and Prince of Persia), but Universal's Robin Hood and Paramount's Last Airbender and Shutter Island have released their ads online...so why pay to have them in the Super Bowl? There's also Overture's Brooklyn's Finest, which seems like a strage way to spend $3 million. Maybe it pays off, though.

In addition to these, look for Iron Man 2, The Wolfman (gee, there's a waste of cash), Despicable Me, Universal Studio's Harry Potter theme park thing, Toy Story 3, and The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

I think personally the one film that can greatest benefit from the ads is Brooklyn's Finest....
which may sound really weird but for some reason I think it will (there's no definite way of telling but its just a hunch, i dunno)
I did like the trailer for Robin Hood, showed me a little bit more of that world their trying to create & I have less doubts about the uncanny resemblance to Gladiator but we'll wait to see
P.S. If Alice in Wonderland is not there that might not be the best idea for Disney, they better get it there in my opinion
I'm impressed with that 30 spot for The Last Airbender. Looks much better than I expected.
