Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 3:03PM On-Set Photos from the 'Jonah Hex' Reshoots
It's usually not a good sign when a movie gets reshoots months after the production wraps. That means there's time for the studio and the producers to watch footage and see what's not working. In some cases, it works out OK, and it can even be completely innocent in a few instances.
Jonah Hex may not fall into those categories, though. Remember, Josh Brolin decided to it because the script was the worst he'd ever read - no foolin' - but he also didn't want writers Neveldine and Taylor directing. Enter Jimmy Hayward. Would you think the guys who made Crank or the director of Horton Hears a Who would be a beter fit here? So that's another obstable.
Well, these are some pictures from the reshoots, which come to us from Collider (who found them at Spoiler TV). It's Brolin and Megan Fox, who plays a lady of the evening. Originally, she wasn't supposed to have a big part, shooting her scenes for a little over a week last summer. So, the fact that she's involved in these revisions probably means she's getting more screen time because it's pretty empty without her.

We can debate whether or not a movie needing more Megan Fox is a good thing, but it sure looks like that's what we're getting.

We can debate that? ok how about more screen time, less dialogue? that should be un-debatable
I think reshoots are becoming more common because studios are more flexible with release dates and don't mind throwing a bit more money on a big movie if they think it will do better.
I'd rather they do improving reshoots than say, "Fugg it, the audience won't notice."
But we are getting a lot of comic book movies and this one may be one too many, of course.
