'Get Him To The Greek' Now Opening June 4th

Get Him to the Greek, an off-shoot of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, will arrive in theaters one week earlier than expected. Not a major change, but Box Office Mojo says the comedy will now open on June 4th instead of the 11th. Why the change? (Shrug) Dunno. It could be a loose combination of factors, such as The Hangover opened in the same slot last year (superstitious studios play that game a lot), it would give Greek an extra seven days before Grown-Ups opens at the end of June, and it's the first male-oriented comedy of the summer, so why put it off any longer than you need to? No matter when it opens, it will face competition; The A-Team is on the 11th and the action comedy Killers with Katherine Heigl bows on the 4th. However, I think there's a lot more crossover with the A-Team crowd. Universal doesn't have too many movies this summer, just four between May 1st and August 1st, so they're probably trying to squeeze every last cent out of each one of them. Get Him to the Greek reintroduces Russell Brand's Aldous Snow from Sarah Marshall as a bleary-eyed rock God. Jonah Hill will play a new record company hire charged with, well, getting Aldous to the legendary Greek Theatre in Los Angeles in time for a show. Sounds a bit like My Favorite Year, at least in the character descriptions. That's not a bad thing to aspire to, by the by.
