Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 7:31PM 'Mission: Impossible 4' Opens Memorial Day 2011
As I'm watching Lost, I see that J.J. Abrams and Tom Cruise are back on board for Mission: Impossible IV. We kind
of knew that - Cruise wants to play Ethan Hunt and Abrams would at least produce - but now it's been confirmed and fast-tracked. The fourth flick
will open Memorial Day 2011, so...they gotta get to it.

We've got the rather short press release from Paramount below, but we can tell you there's no director yet. If you follow Abrams at all, you know he
won't look too far beyond the Bad Robot crew, unless Paramount absolutely demands it. That probably won't happen, though, because he has a deal in
place at the studio and he's already got a track record with doing this very thing.
The placement gives Abrams films in four consecutive summers, between Star Trek (last year and 2012), M:I 4, and this year's romantic
comedy Morning Glory with Harrison Ford and Rachel McAdams. He's only directing the two Trek movies, but the brand name is becoming
established pretty quickly.
Presser:

Paramount Pictures announced today that it is making Mission Impossible IV. The film, which will be produced by Tom Cruise, J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot Productions and will star Cruise, will be released Memorial Day weekend 2011.“Tom and J.J. are great talents and we are excited to be working with them to re-launch this legendary franchise,” said Paramount Pictures Chairman & CEO Brad Grey. Screenwriters Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are attached to write the script, from an original idea by Cruise and Abrams. The studio, Cruise and Abrams are in now the process of identifying a director for the film. Abrams’s last project with Paramount was Star Trek, which he produced and directed. The film grossed $385 million globally. Cruise’s Mission Impossible franchise has grossed over 1.4 billion globally. Mission Impossible IV will be co-financed by David Ellison’s Skydance Productions.
