Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 11:03PM Fox Moves 'Money Never Sleeps' to September
It might be too early to say why this move is happening, but we'll go with the angle that insists it's an effort to hide shortcomings. Fox has shoved Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps from April to September, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

There are no real details as to why, which makes the move subject to even more scrutiny. April was a good place for the studio to have this film, because there are no movies intended for adults between Date Night on April 9th and The A-Team in June. Then again, Fox doesn't have anything else in September and October, so it could be a strategic move.
It's actually a lousy third and fourth quarter for Fox, which is probably looking at Predators and Narnia as its two big movies. That's from July to December. The third biggest movie is probably Unstoppable with Denzel and Chris Pine, and Gulliver's Travels might have $100 million potential, but I don't trust Jack Black.
Money Never Sleeps gives Fox its only true prestige film in the last half of the year, but it is prestigious? Moving it now, six weeks before it was scheduled to open, seems like one of those situations where they can't edit out the bad test screening results in time. I mean, once the TV commercials start coming out, it's really hard to turn back, and those would have needed to roll out very soon.
So whether it's problem A, in which Fox has a movie that isn't as good as hoped, or problem B, in which the studio is saddled with a bunch of stiffs and this will be the only stand out, it sounds like Fox has a problem.
