The Sam Worthington studio blackmail fiesta continues. I'm kidding about the blackmail part, but man, does this guy get a lot of work these days.

Between Terminator Salvation, Avatar, and Clash of the Titans, Worthington has already appeared in three major blockbusters in under a year, and he's been signing up for quite a few films over the past several months, overextending himself so much that he's actually had to pass on a couple roles he had already accepted.
The latest update comes by way of Pajiba, which also reported that Worthington would co-star in The Fields for producer Michael Mann. Worthington is said to be in line to play the lead in Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future, "a British sci-fi comic property acquired by Virgin Comics a few years ago." The title actually goes back about half a century; think of him as England's answer to Buck Rogers.
As of now, there's no writer or director, but Warner Bros. apparently reached out to Worthington first to lock him in place for what could be a multi-picture deal. It's no surprise WB wants the actor, since he was the walkaway winner from Terminator and Titans has been building buzz for months. So once the studio hires the right people behind the scenes, we should be able to figure out where this one may fall.
Is all of this coming too quickly for Worthington? I know he's been working for a while now, but there's flavor of the month stuff and then there's this. It's like studios are bypassing bigger names to get to him for key roles. Cost-cutting move? Genuine talent? Can't be the Q score, because even with the success of Avatar, it's not Worthington's show.
