Monday, March 15, 2010 at 3:17PM Director Leapfrogs 'Bioshock' for Another Project
We may have to wait a little while longer than the little while we've already been waiting to see a movie based on the video game Bioshock. It was a Gore Verbinski project once upon a time, but he walked about a year ago, I think. With a smaller budget, Universal reached out to 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, and he's now the director of record on the project.

The Film Stage reports that between now and whenever the hell Bioshock gets cooking, Fresnadillo will be working on Intruders, based on a script he has co-written. Described as "a genre piece whose story revolves around an 11-year-old girl," although a few more details would sure be helpful.
One thing we don know is that Intruders is scheduled to shoot in May. I don't know if that gets in the way of Bioshock on any level or if the studio was building it on some other schedule and it was either shoot Intruders this spring or wait, I dunno, two-and-a-half years to do it.
We think it's safe to assume Intruders won't be a production the size of Bioshock, even if Universal has greatly reduced its budget, so there's probably much less required in pre-production and post-production. I don't think this is anything to sound an alarm over; it's probably something similar to what I described: Fresnadillo has time now and won't have time a year from now, so he's making the most of the opportunities he has.
Then again, this is Universal, fresh off the purchase by Comcast. Maybe Bioshock doesn't doesn't jive with a new direction, but we haven't heard anything about the video game adaptation crashing on the shore in recent months, so I think it's probably still alive and slowly coming together.

I put this next to Halo and World of warcraft movie, potential to be good, will bounce form place to place, and if it ever arrives it will far after the fans stopped caring.
I'll never stop caring.I'm looking 4ward to see this movie gets done with starring Wentworth Miller on it.
I adore him so much & just any movie has his name encourages me to see it.Whenever this happens & this movie comes to production,I'll be so impatient to see him as the leader of it.
Bioshock is a great project and it will be ruined without him.
Bioshock is one of the most brilliant FPS games ever. If a movie is made, I hope it does not turn out like the awful Doom movie.
