First things first: Amanda Seyfried's in Esquire this month. Yikes...

That's the first time I've ever noticed a resemblance to Michelle Pfeiffer, which really can't be viewed as anything but a compliment, can it?
Anyway, second things second, Seyfried is becoming the new it girl, and Variety reports that she's just joined the cast of Albert Nobbs, based on a script by, of all people, Glenn Close. More on that in a second. Seyfried comes aboard the project with Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Orlando Bloom, Michael Gambon, and Janet McTeer for director Rodrigo Garcia.
Close is also producing the film, which helps explain the writing gig, but she also starred in a stage adaptation of this story and will appear on screen, too, "as a woman who must pass as a man to survive life in 19th century Ireland." Take that, Dustin Hoffman! Close will play a woman masquerading as a man...with an Irish accent.
The trouble comes after "Albert" has passed herself off as a man for so many years that there's no backing out. Don't remember when Close fit this into her career? That's because it happened at the beginning of her storied and award-winning run: Close won the Obie for her portrayal back in 1982, when her new co-star Amanda Seyfried was minus three years old. That year, Close made her film debut in The World According to Garp.
