Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 11:24AM Bombastic New 'Prince of Persia' Trailer
Most people don't remember that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was actually supposed to come out last year. Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer pushed it back while the film was in production, probably to allow more time for post-production. Based on the latest trailer, there was a lot of post-production to be done.

Will audiences fully embrace the new sword and sandal movies? This comes out less than two months after Clash of the Titans, a movie that looks just as big but not interchangeable. Then we'll get Conan next year, Red Sonja is still out there somewhere, and there are certainly other ones I'm not thinking of right now. I think they definitely will support the genre this spring and summer, but it's not one of those that has a long shelf life when it comes back around.
The new trailer has all sorts of effects, which should be no surprise, but they appear to be pretty overpowering. That could be good or it could be a sign of nothing going on underneath:

I'm not really interested in this one. It's based on a videogame and appears to have a lot of "videogamy" effects. These effects are usually awesome... when they are executed in a videogame. I expect more from a Hollywood blockbuster.
I still want to know who designed the Prince of Persia's castle. That thing clearly wouldn't pass OSHA standards. No one wants to have to dodge spikes or run upside-down to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
Carv its a security system that activates in terms of attack. In the game its one of the things you have to do is solve a puzzle which activates the security system
Of course this movie will make money. Its a big budget action thrillor with a hot girl and guy. As much as i try to let it go i cant. JAKE GYLLENHAL is not right. i hate disney they are racists. Like there arent enough white heroes. Can't the brown people get a little bit? and we got a good one and they make him whitewashed.
Only reason i cant let that go is Prince of Persia played a big part for me psychologically as a teen. I loved it so much (first one at least and to a lesser extent the 3rd prince of persia everyone pretty much forgets the 2nd game cause it was garbage)
Imagine if the movie were called "Sheik of Iran." I'm guessing the Gyllenhaal thing would annoy people even more. But yeah, he's pretty darn Anglo.
