Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 1:20PM Cameron's Bold Fresh Tirade Against Glenn Beck
James Cameron took every opportunity to say exactly how he felt about Fox News host Glenn Beck at a recent press conference promoting the DVD and Blu-ray release of Avatar.
There are, as you might expect, very few points of political agreement between Beck and the King of the World, but Cameron turned vicious, in part because Beck lashed out at Cameron and his 2007 documentary, The Lost Tomb of Jesus. At the time, Beck, working for CNN, said, "Many people believe James Cameron officially has tossed his hat in the ring today and is officially running for anti-Christ."
"Glenn Beck is a fucking asshole. I've met him," Cameron told reporters. "I think, you know what, he may or may not be an asshole, but he certainly is dangerous, and I'd love to have a dialogue with him."
When asked The Hollywood Reporter why he believes Beck is dangerous, Cameron replied, "Because his ideas are poisonous. I couldn't believe when he was on CNN. I thought, what happened to CNN? Who is this guy? Who is this madman? And then of course he wound up on Fox News, which is where he belongs, I guess."
It's interesting that Cameron was promoting a Fox home video product at the event, although this is hardly the first time a Fox entertainment property and Fox News have come to blows. Another point of contention is that Avatar will be released on Earth Day, April 22nd - a conscious decision - while some Fox News personalities have denied climate change on the air.
"I want to call those deniers out into the street at high noon and shoot it out with those boneheads," Cameron added. "Anybody that is a global-warming denier at this point in time has got their head so deeply up their ass I'm not sure they could hear me."

HAHAAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go CAMERON!!!!
Wow this guy has been officially been put back on my good side.. After his mean looks & not having a sense of humor he showed at the Academy Awards I thought this guy has a huge head, but this is just awesome!!!!
Beck is an ignorant fool who wants attention, while Cameron has a huge ego but at least is talented
I have listened to Beck a few times on the radio just out of boredom but he is no different then the other end of the spectrum with all the liberals out there.
Being a graduated Meteorologist/ Climatologist from ASU, and knowing their takes on Global Warming, Cameron should shut his f**king mouth.
Beck thinks that there is a lack of evidence that human activity is the cause of Global warming. He also supposedly bought a "green home" to do his part. He never denies that its happening or says there is no such thing.
The part on the fact that there is a lack of evidence is somewhat true. The correlations are very poor to prove the warming is linked to humans.
Fact is that if humans were not here, the planet would still be warming. We are coming out of the ice age still and will hit a point where the planet stops warming and starts to cool back into an ice age. The question is how much are we contributing? This is the hardest question to figure out. Models predicted the CO2 to be much higher then they actually are, why? Well Carbon sinks are the answer. Trees have been C02 deprived over the last 1 million years. To put it into perspective, unlike al gore giving you only 1 million years of history ( basically since we have been in a ice age), 65 million years ago the CO2 was 8 times higher than it was today. It was a very tropical and lush planet them, a bit warmer on average but very humid.
Climate changes naturally, a point the media fails to mention. Up for debate is the question of how much are we really altering the planet cause to human interaction?
Is 130 years of weather data really mean anything when the planet has been around for about 4.6 billion or so years? No. Plus the data is not great. Where are all the major temperature stations anymore? Near Air Ports, whats near Air Ports? Lots of Concrete these days. Thats the problem with them, the concrete causes a warmer reading than normal near the surface. Satallite records are even newer since starting in the 70s. It shows a super modest change in temperature.
So there is a major issue in gauging how much warming is happening let alone how much Carbon Dioxide we are adding to the Atmosphere and is a huge debate.
Back to Glen Beck, he still advocates to do your part for the environment.
I would say society isto adding elements to the atmosphere such as CO2, methane and other things, remember CO2 is not a pollution if is pure CO2, CO2 occurs naturally and has been in the atmosphere long before humans and thank god for it because without it, we would freeze our ass off.
I for one say try to be responsible but don't put yourself in economic strife just for the planet to do it. The planet will be here long after us and will eventually balance out our additives but business as usual should change and will change. I believe being truthful and not scaring the shit out of people to change their ways is the right way to go about climate change. I get so annoyed but media reports and some movies.
well said, brandon. except for the parts where you defended glen beck, anyway.
Well... I would have defended you if you had said the same thing. I would defend a liberal if he had said the same thing, I would have defended the cookie monster if he said the same thing. I am not biast based on peoples religious affiliations or their political views. However the one common thing I can't stand is people that can't understand where another person might be coming from just because he or she are republican or because they are democratic. You might as well be as racist as that white person back in 1859 in Alabama. Ok maybe thats a bit harsh but it gets on my nerves when people can't put on the other shoe unless they explain that they tried and it just didn't work out but they can understand why.
Colin, you should correct the part about him publicly denying climate change. That is misreporting unless thats what the news faucet spouted off that you got that from, then I forgive you.
You're right, Brandon. Even though he did say in 2009 that most people who believed in Global Warming were socialists, he was referring to man-made climate change only.
nice post brandon. there are some level-headed people out there.
Actually, the truth is that Cameron's memory was a little fuzzy (or at lot, as it were). When Beck called him the "anti-christ", it wasn't because of any movie he produced (the Jesus movie), it was actually Beck doing one of this gags where he talked about how the music of "Titanic" was so horrific (that Celine Dion song in particular) and it's because of "Titanic" that we were forced to listen to "My Heart Will Go On" over and over and over and for that James Cameron must be auditioning for the anti-christ. It was, um, you know, A JOKE. Beck does that -- in-between the crazy blackboard rantings and spontaneous crying, he makes a lot of jokes. I can't stand the guy, but I gotta admit, sometimes he cracks me up with his crazy "side show", but even I gotta give him props for this. God, how despite that song! Anyways, that part about Cameron being the anti-Christ was a joke in reference to Titanic and the Celine Dion song. So you know, just to be clear, it wasn't about Cameron producing the Jesus movie or anything, ol James just went and got it all confused in his head. I blame it on the heavy exposure to 3D glasses.
