Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 2:41AM How To Watch An Hour Of 'Toy Story 3' Next Month
Here's something groovy: Pixar and Disney are trying to create a little buzz for Toy Story 3, pardon the pun, and they're taking the movie to college campuses in the US throughout April. You do have to have a valid college ID, though; you can't just show up because you want a sneak peek.

The other caveat is that it's not the whole movie. It is most of it, though: 65 minutes of animated fun. They're calling it the "Special Cliffhanger Edition" of TS3, and I get the distinct impression it's not in 3-D, which is another reason Disney would like you to only see part of the movie next month.
You can go to the official Disney Pixar Facebook page to see where the film will be screening near you, and you had better not just assume it will be: There are only 22 states on the tour, so go screw yourself, Delaware! (Sorry, Delaware.)
If I'm reading it right, you're allowed a guest and that guest doesn't necessarily need a student ID, so that might be a way in if you're really interested, and you should be. If Toy Story 3 measures up to the first two, then this could be the best trilogy ever. That's awfully subjective, I realize, but it's in the discussion unless the new movie...uh...casts Sophia Coppola or has Hobbits bouncing on a bed in slow motion for four or five minutes or incorporates Ewoks.
The film will actually be in theaters and IMAX on June 18th, and should do very well. It's about a month after Shrek and three weeks before Despicable Me, so the family viewing should all belong to Pixar around that time. Plus, kids who saw the original are now 15 years older and this movie should see a a spike of younger adult viewing, too.
