Friday, March 5, 2010 at 5:05AM Week in Review: Tons of Oscar Stuff, 'Hobbit', 'Ghostbusters' and Blockbuster
It's Oscar Week, although most of the suspense might have been drained out of this year's proceedings, if you follow the lead-up closely. There is still that chance/hope (for some) that Inglourious Basterds will sneak in and break up the two-horse race for Best Picture between Avatar and Hurt Locker. There's also been a groundswell of post-Meryl Streep support in the past two weeks or so, as people start to come to their senses about a rather pedestrian performance by Sandra Bullock.

Our own picks are coming later today, maybe tomorrow, but if you're a regular Big Picture reader, you know where most of my votes are heading. Anyway, we've recapped some of the major happenings this week as well as our own Academy Awards specials, including your chance to see all the nominated animated shorts. They're a blast.
We've also got non-Oscar stuff, including what could be the final nail in the coffin for Blockbuster.
