Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10:27PM 'Transformers' Picks Up Three Razzie Awards
You could see this coming for a while, and on Saturday night, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen fulfilled its destiny at the Razzies, winning the award, if that's the right phrase, for Worst Picture of the year. As always, the 30th annual Golden Raspberry Awards were announced the day before the Oscars.

Was Transformers really the worst movie of last year? No, of course not. It was, however, an all-out assault on your senses with no real screenplay and the same effects we'd already seen. If anything, it was the biggest waste of a $200 million budget I've ever seen, because there's no reason it had to be as bad as it was. But empirically, it wasn't the worst movie of 2009.
The Razzies aren't about that, though. It's about punchlining an already popular punching bag. Transformers won three awards in all, and Sandra Bullock may bookend her Worst Actress win for All About Steve with a Best Actress Oscar tomorrow night.

So just to refresh our memory, then, what WAS the worst movie of 2009?
Eddie Murphy WORSE this decade than Tom Green or Steven Seagal? Boy, have the once-might fallen hard...
Is Bullock going to go down as the worst Best Actress winner ever? I think so. If the producer of The Hurt Locker is mad at the idea of a "500 million dollar blockbuster" winning best picture then he should be furious that this actress from a blockbuster movie is going to win Best Actress.
Carv: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li or Dragonball.
Bullock showed up? That's awesome! What a great sport she is!
The Razzies used to be about movies that were so bad, they were fun to watch anyway. Now it's just a useless bitch-fest. I don't know, maybe it still does celebrate that irony, given how well Transformers did (I still think both movies are good popcorn flicks). Truly bad movies like "Gamer" and "Halloween II" are TOTALLY forgotten by the end of the year, so the Razzies really are, I think just a histrionic, me-too display of "counter glamour".
