Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 5:50AM WTF? Chris Rock Writing Kurosawa Remake?
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo! As lenient as I am with remakes - and I'd say I give more passes than just about anyone else - why in the hell is Chris Rock attached to Akira Kurosawa's High and Low?

I'm not sure which is worse, the thought that Rock might act in a remake of one of Kurosawa's great underrated dramas (which at this point, he isn't) or the reality that he's writing it. Mike Nichols is directing, Martin Scorsese is producing...and filling in for David Mamet, noted dramatist Chris Rock.
I know what the argument will be: Rock's one of the great stand-up comedians of his generation. OK, great. But have you seen his movies? I guess the one upshot is his comedies are almost completely without laughs, so maybe he's perfect to write a heavy drama. Seriously, when CB4 is your best screenplay, leave Akira Kurosawa alone.
But for the record, here they are: CB4, Down to Earth, Head of State, and I Think I Love My Wife are Rock's scripts. This is terribly depressing. Rock announced that he would work on the script - which is either a cruel joke or our cruel fate - while doing press for Death at a Funeral, another remake, although it's one Rock didn't have a hand in writing.
I could have gone a long time without hearing news like this. What in the world is Mike Nichols thinking?

Why? Really, why?
what??? This makes no sense
Well knowing the genius of Mike Nichols & Scorsese being attached there must be reason to this madness, because they certainly aren't the type to let anyone handle their buisness.
I've always liked Chris Rock his movies not so much even though I think he has potential to be a good actor if he has better material. But he is funny his stand up is funny!
Maybe they'll let chris rock write it and then hire another writer to write a script that's exactly the opposite. then they'll know what not to do.
Coz he's ghanstah you don'mess wit'
