Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 8:09PM Robert Pattinson as Kurt Cobain: Nevermind
It was a rumor and not much else, and now it's not even that: Robert Pattinson will not play Kurt Cobain in a bio-pic of the late Nirvana singer's life. Now if only we could get Courtney Love's shaky, money-grubbing paws off of it.

I actually had no problem with Pattinson for the role, because Edward Cullen projects a very similar negative charisma, but I certainly understand from a pop culture standpoint why people hated the notion. However, if not for Twilight, I don't think anybody would really be outraged had it happened, which it won't be.
Instead, The Playlist reports that Love would like to see Ryan Gosling or James McAvoy. Both are excellent actors and good choices, and McAvoy has been rumored for the role before. I could see Gosling more than McAvoy, though, because he has stronger indie cred, an Oscar nomination, and he looks the part a little more. But we're not quite there yet.
Owen Moverman (The Messenger) is in line to direct, but he's probably got another project in front of this film, something called Rampart that will reunite him with Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster. Harrelson, you'll recall, received his second Oscar nomination for The Messenger.
Said Love of the Pattinson rumors:

"Isn't that so stupid, who would cast him? That's just wrong, no offense. I watched the Twilight stuff very, very recently and I get it, it resonates with the teenaged girl in me, I understand epic love of that nature; I write about it all the time. But isn't [him playing Cobain] silly?"So, that would be a no.

I don't understand Courtney Love... Why would it be silly? Robert Pattinson is a good an actor, and besides that he's an excellent musician. There were rumors lately that he's about to record his first guitar based album. I would actually like to see him in that role
