Spike Lee Says 'Inside Man 2' Isn't Happening

Without going into too much detail - none, really - Spike Lee may have killed the prospect of an Inside Man sequel during a chat with ESPN. Responding to a fan question about whether or not he'd work with Denzel Washington again, Spike wrote, "We were going to do Inside Man 2 but it didn't work out." Now, because that's not a lot of information to work with, we don't know whether Spike and Denzel and the studio just couldn't agree on the direction Washington's character would go in a sequel and he left the project or if the movie's dead altogether. It could be read both ways, especially in light of the fact that it's been a few years since the original. So if it's not that Washington just can't fit it into his schedule or didn't like where his character was going in the sequel and the movie is, in fact, not happening, that would make Spike Lee's most successful film a one-off, a strange development given how franchise-happy the studios are right now. One consideration could be related to something we hypothesized when Universal killed Josh Brolin's Cartel: The days of smarter, more discerning action movies for adults may be over at Universal, which is struggling mightily for just one hit. We wrote then that Universal will probably look to do bigger, dumber action movies for a while, like Battleship and Stretch Armstrong, and this could be an extension of that. We had just wondered about the whereabouts of this sequel when it was announced that Clive Owen would be starring in a new Juan Carlos Fresnadillo film for Universal, and there was reason to wonder: In January and March of 2009, respectively, both Lee and Owen talked about Inside Man 2, with Spike reporting everyone would be returning and Owen revealing that the script was "imminent." Damn shame this one won't be happening, although I'll confess it ended well enough the way it was.

Too bad they are not pursuing the INSIDE MAN SEQUEL. It was without a doubt my favorite movie from 2006.
Would also love to see Samantha Ivers-a principle hostage in the movie--in a bigger role. She is beautiful and seems very talented.
Cmon SPIKE LEE, reconsider and lets do this film again!!!!!

Inside man is one of the best movies ever , I was longing for Inside Man 2 for years since rumour has it that Spike Lee was intended of making it and now it says that it's been called off .It's kind of dissapointing , the cast and the story line is so smart ,it is a waste to discontinue that.
