J.J. Abrams: 'Super 8' Not a 'Cloverfield' Sequel

You know that new J.J. Abrams movie that will debut its trailer with Iron Man 2 this weekend? Well, maybe you don't. You probably weren't supposed to, but news of the surprise film - called Super 8 was leaked the other day, along with the nugget that it's so closely guarded that Paramount has electronically locked the reels of film that contain the trailer until Thursday afternoon. Abrams confirmed to Vulture that the electronic locks are true but without saying what the movie is about denied any connection to Cloverfield. "You have to check [out the trailer]," Abrams said. "But it has nothing whatsoever to do with Cloverfield." When pressed on what the story might be, Abrams replied, "I won’t be able to tell you until it’s done." Gee, what a surprise. We'll get our first glimpse at the trailer later tonight, and I'm sure it will be online this weekend in one form or another. Let the speculation begin.
