'Eclipse' Clips, Breaking 'Breaking Dawn' News

It's hard to believe we're only about 18 months into Twilight and the third movie is just weeks away. I'm sure it won't be the last really popular franchise to do that, but the trouble is, especially in the teen-to-young adult arena, finding even one hit in a series is increasingly hard to do. But there's only one book left - Breaking Dawn - so there's a little irony that Summit has officially announced they're going to draw that one out rather than speed to a quick conclusion. Yep, as has been long suspected, Breaking Dawn is now two movies, the first to be released on November 18, 2011, and the final installment probably arriving around July 4, 2012. The studios are notoriously superstitious about release dates; they think if Twilight did well in mid-November, then you can't move New Moon to January. The summer release date for Eclipse only makes sense because Harry Potter started alternating release dates to set up a big summer finale, and that's the blueprint being followed here. Unfortunately, late June and the big dates in July 2012 are already spoken for - Star Trek (June 29th), Spider-Man (July 3rd), and Batman (July 20th). That's a crowded summer, anyway, and while Summit might love to have the opening weekends generated that time of year, it might be a smarter decision to just go back to November where the film is clearly going to dominate. More on that, I'm sure, as the results from Eclipse trickle in. Speaking of, here are a few new clips from the latest Twilight flick, which opens on June 30th.
