Red Band Trailer - Neil Marshall's 'Centurion'

If you don't already know, "Red Band" means unrated in the trailer world, and that can be nudity, it can be bad words, or it can be violence. In the case of the Red Band trailer for Centurion, the red stands for blood. Of course, if you saw The Descent (or slogged through his lethargic, stupid Doomsday), you know director Neil Marshall likes his blood almost as much as he likes girls who extract it. In Doomsday is was Rhona Mitra and now it's Olga Kurylenko, but she's kind of in the background here. Instead, it's more about the battle between the Roman Empire and the Celtic tribe called the Picts. For Team Rome, we've got Michael Fassbender and Dominic West. New stuff featured in the Red Band, which is good; I don't like it when the trailers are too repetitive.
Trailer courtesy of Trailer Addict I'm curious to see how any of these VOD/Amazon pre-releases do. Is there money in it? I think there must be, because it's becoming a more frequent option. But usually it's not big action movies like this, so I wonder if it will take in this case.

Marshall did a better job with paying hommage to the eighties on "Doomsday" than Tarantino and Rodrigues did the year before on their seventies "Grindhouse" send-up. Admittedly, a lot of people didn't get it. I thought though, Marshall's effort indicated he could go on to greater things and it looks like he's living up to my expectations. I'm old school though. I'll see this in the theater, like I do most movies. Maybe someday I'll join the "cocooned" nation and watch premiering movies on video of some type, but I hope that's a long way off.
