Josh Holloway from 'Lost' the Newest 'Avenger'?

Avengers News, which you would correctly assume has something to do with The Avengers, has been reporting that Marvel has contacted Lost star Josh Holloway to play a "lead" role in the film. That's funny; I thought there were already at least three "lead" roles that have already been handed out. This thing's going to have more tangents than a two-hour Love Boat season finale. But with Iron Man, Thor, Captain America (and presumably the Hulk) accounted for, who does that leave for Holloway? A villain? Well, we know he can play an anti-hero pretty well. But Avengers News says he would more than likely be an ancillary Avenger, like Ant-Man, Hawkeye, or "Dum Dum" Dugan. But that's just using a process of elimination. Of the three, I see Holloway as more of a Hawkeye. Ant-Man, we know, is getting his own movie and will almost certainly be in The Avengers somehow. But that would be unorthodox casting. Hawkeye is not just a better fit for the actor (Jeremy Renner was rumored for the role earlier this year), but he's an Avengers character who has been considered for a spin-off, and he has some history with Black Widow, a character that Marvel would like to exploit since Scarlett Johansson plays the role, but may not really be worth her own movie (see Elektra). So if there's anything to this at all, that's the one I think makes the most sense. And as big an Edgar Wright fan as I am, I still have trouble seeing how Ant-Man is dying for a theatrical run. Hawkeye's a better fir there, too, if you ask me. And Holloway's a pretty good fit for it.

Holloway would be a good fit for Hawkeye. I actually thought he'd be a better fit for Gambit than Taylor Kitsch was in Wolverine but that's just me.

I agree, Holloway would be a great fit for Hawkeye. It would be great to see him get his own spin-off too.

You should be shot for calling Hawkeye a "ancillary" Avenger. Hawkeye kicks ass and actually kills!

"Ancillary" in that they're not building up to his piece of The Avengers the way Marvel is doing with Iron Man, Cap, and Thor. And I think if he's in the movie, he'll be in a supporting role for the other guys.
