Rumor Patrol: Vanessa Hudgens in 'Buffy' Movie?

If all of this is true, we may have dodged a bullet. Considering the source is Showbiz Spy, true may not completely enter into the equation. But here's the deal, anyway. "An inside source" says Vanessa Hudgens was in talks to star in the movie rehash of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a film that's been bandied about for a while, although we kind of thought it was presently a dead issue, especially with Joss Whedon focusing on The Avengers and rewriting the script for Captain America. He had already more or less shown us the toe tag on this project, what, almost a year ago now, I guess. Hudgens passed, in this version of events, because Twilight and all those vampire TV shows are so popular that she viewed it as overkill. "She felt that with Twilight still so massive, Buffy would not be the best option right now," said the source. "The idea was to have Sarah Michelle Gellar back but with Hudgens as a fresh, new character. The project has been shelved for now." I'm going to say this one's bogus, for the reasons we mentioned above. However, if they're going to eventually do a movie (again), I think the approach of pairing SMG with a new, younger cast could kick off a couple new movies that could exist without her. A torch-passing kind of deal, if you will. But most of you won't, at least the most of you who are big time Buffy fans. No discounting all that loyalty, at least not for someone whose career is the antithesis of geek coolness.

yeah i was a huge buffy fan, and fanpages are still active even with the shoe ending in 03. and other buffy fans ive talked to didnt lik this idea either. its clear this is because of twilight. but joss is not even attached in fct sarah wasnt even supposed to be involved. Cant believe she agreed to do it thought she was done with buffy, nevr underestimate the power of a fading career i guess lol

The only person which should play Buffy is Sarah Michelle Gellar! Thats just my opinion...

Sarah's been steadily working since Buffy ended actually. She just does mostly independent movies now so you don't hear as much about it, so I'd hardly call her career fading. And, she did just have a baby a year ago. I can't see this movie working with Hudgens at all, with or without Sarah.
