Sunday, June 20, 2010 at 1:18AM Trailer - Luke Wilson Peddles Porn in 'Middle Men'
A few months ago, an extended sizzle reel for Middle Men made its appearance on webernet sites hither and yon. I thought we wrote it up, too, but I'll be damned if I can find it now. Anyway, it was a bit more graphic than the new trailer and it was designed as a showcase to entice studios to make an offer to distribute the film. It worked.

Paramount Vantage now has George Gallo's new film, a historical dramedy about the dawn of internet porn. As you've heard, porn is a major factor in the deployment of new technology, and it has been for 30 years. Boogie Nights chronicled the end of the theatrical era in adult film and the beginning of the home video revolution. Then when the internet came around, broadband was greatly expanded because of the demand for quicker downloads. In 2000, PC Magazine gave the industry a special award for leading an online and hardware revolution. Like your hard drive space? Thank a porn star.
But in 1995, all that stuff was new, and Luke Wilson plays the guy who kind of pioneered internet commerce, but had to do so surrounded by some unsavory characters, and I'm not just talking about the on-screen performers.
Vantage throws thing one into theaters this August. Limited release at first, of course.
