Are Nathan Fillion and Eva Longoria New 'Avengers'?

ComicBookMovie.com cites a source it trusts, one close to Marvel Studios, as saying that and will be joining The Avengers. You don't actually have to be a source to make that kind of claim, by the way, as we'll point out. Fillion goes way back with Avengers director . Firefly and Serenity, anyone? He also did spot duty on Buffy before that. And as Hank Pym aka Ant-Man, Marvel may have finally found a guy who can pull off that character with both a wink and authority. So that makes a lot of sense, actually. The Eva Longoria thing actually took root a couple years ago. She was spotted carrying some comics out of Marvel Studios headquarters, prompting speculation that she'd play Janet Van Dyke, the Wasp. Of course, where Ant-Man goes, the Wasp must follow, at least in the comics. They eventually married and were, obviously, really tiny fighters o' crime. ComicBookMovie adds that while this news isn't officially official, Marvel will announce it at Comic Con next month. We'll see if any of it sticks. I do like Fillion for Ant-Man, though, now that it's been brought up. He was a fan choice for Green Lantern, but Ryan Reynolds is hard to argue with as Hal Jordan. I have no strong opinion on Longoria either way. I've never watched the Housewives and her film work has only been small supporting roles, so it's tough to judge. But I don't immediately hate that rumor, either.

I was very pleased to hear this. Fillion was amazing in Firefly and Serenity and hilarious, imo, in Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog. He has a fantastic presence on screen and I look forward to seeing him in The Avengers.
