Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 4:45PM Trailer - Sean Connery's Cartoon Comeback, 'Sir Billi'
Remember a few months ago when it was announced that Sean Connery was coming out of retirement to do voice work in an animated flick? We haven't seen Sir Sean since League of Extraordinary Gentleman - proving he knows how to go out on top - but he was, for one reason or another, attracted by a movie called Sir Billi.
The trailer, or as I was told, the sizzle reel, has creeped online and I think it's a mixed bag. As a trailer, it's not much, and as a story it doesn't seem overwhelmingly interesting, either. But there's something about the animation. The backgrounds and some of that stuff looks almost photorealistic, but the character animation is very rudimentary.
I will say that the movie will be in 3-D, so the characters, including Sir Billi, might look more pleasing when you see it the way it's meant to be presented. I won't say "lifelike," because they're clearly not drawn that way, but less...Nintendo 64, perhaps. But really, pay attention to the water at about 1:15 into this video; that's good stuff, and hard to do well, incidentally.
No release date yet, but Glasgow Animation will probably start shopping this around. Does it appeal to kids, though? I can't see this having a lot of mainstream draw for adults.

Looks soo horrible.
so, that's a joke right? the beaver is floating down the river toward the dam, and they try to save her. That's the plot?
hey Colin, it appears that the backgrounds in those "photo realistic" shots are still paintings( probably done on computer), and the actual animation of characters and moving backgrounds are very rudimentary. Sounds like a great paycheck( i mean reason!) to come back Sir Connery.
I am looking forward to seeing this movie or at least giving it a chance, if you do research you will know that Mr Connery isn't getting a large paycheck!!
Did he lose a bet in a card game?
