Friday, June 4, 2010 at 7:27PM Sweet Saul Bass-Inspired 'Buried' Poster
You're probably a big fan of Saul Bass even if you don't know it. The artist and graphic designer is responsible for tons of movie posters, like Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, handsomely appropriated for the latest one-sheet for Buried, starring Ryan Reynolds.

What a great tip of the cap that is, although when he was still alive, Bass considered the poster for Spike Lee's Clockers - which was obviously inspired by Bass' Anatomy of a Murder poster - to be a rip off instead of an homage. On top of credit sequences and posters Bass made for film, he's also the guy who designed the logos for Continental and United Airlines (since the companies merged this year, they're using two Bass logos, both at least 35 years old), the United Way, the Girl Scouts, and old Warner Bros. logo, Minolta, Geffen Records, and more. So see, you've probably admired his work for many years.
Buried opens October 8th, and it could only hope to have more connections to Vertigo, but that may be asking a bit much of any film, frankly.
