Logo Soup: 'M:I 4' 'Tintin,' 'Green Lantern'

Collider happened upon a bunch of new official logos for Paramount's 2011 slate of films, featuring Mission: Impossible IV and The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. It's all part of The Licensing International Expo happening next week in Las Vegas. And Slashfilm has tracked down the new Green Lantern logo, which, as you'll read in the press release below, has as much to do with branding the Mattel toy line as it does the movie. And now you can see why there's such a thing as The Licensing International Expo: These things are big business. As the movie companies become more vertically integrated, it's desirous to move the titles along as many channels owned by that corporation as possible. Paramount, for example, is CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, and other cable outlets. Beyond that, because the marketplace is so competitive with merchandising, the studios look for opportunities to brand their film products in a litany of other ways, as you'll read about in the Green Lantern press release. But first, the new official logo for the first DC Entertainment film at Warner Bros., next summer's Green Lantern:

Bringing the enduringly popular DC Super Hero to the big screen for the first time, Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds in the title role as the newest member of the Green Lantern Corps. Each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers, but when a new enemy threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate, and the fate of Earth, lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. “The Green Lantern film has an incredibly wide merchandise appeal,” said Donald De Line, Producer, Green Lantern. “The potential is there for amazing toys and merchandise because Green Lantern’s ring can create anything the imagination can conjure.
