Monday, June 7, 2010 at 10:52PM Tom Cruise "Working On" Les Grossman Movie
After returning from nowhere to promote (and later appear on) the MTV Movie Awards, talk has heated up again that Les Grossman, the Tom Cruise character from Tropic Thunder, might get his own movie.

Cruise told E! last night, "We're working on it...Yup, we're working on it."
I wonder what form that would take. It was great in Tropic Thunder because it was surprising at first but it also didn't have a chance to get old. But two hours of Grossman screaming and spitting? Not sure about that. But he's a great character, so that's a start, and I suppose if the do it kind of the same way they made Tropic Thunder, meaning he isn't in every scene, it could work again.
With Cruise making the rounds this month to promote Knight and Day, this topic is certainly not going to retreat over the next few weeks, so we'll see if he divulges any further information about it. Of course, Paramount hasn't been forthcoming with dollars for Anchorman and Zoolander sequels, so I can't see how this would leapfrog either one of those on the studio's wish list.
Initially, the idea was, like, webisodes or something. Maybe they can verge from that, because I'd love to see more of Grossman, but I don't know if we need his own feature film.

the thing i fear is they are going to make him more human. He's awesome because he is a utter jerk. The second you try to make it so the audience connects with him you loose grossman and therefore you lose the movie ,
its like with joey getting his spinoff from friends, he was great comedic relief but as a main character he completely changes
...And keeping him an utter jerk makes it very difficult for him to be a leading character.
