Huh? Marvel Wants Joaquin for Bruce Banner?

If you were Marvel, would you rather have a pissy Edward Norton or an off-the-deep-end Joaquin Phoenix as your Bruce Banner? I'm not really torn here, and I think, with Norton, Marvel knew it was getting a guy who's pretty specific about the projects he does and if he doesn't like the way it's going, he won't be quiet. I also think he was a very good Banner. Furthermore, I think Marvel knows what it's getting with Phoenix, which is to say, Marvel has no idea what it could be getting with him. A very good actor, no question, but CHUD reports that "reliable sources" indicate an offer has been made to Joaquin to play Banner in The Avengers and that may - we caution, may - possibly open the door for a third attempt at a Hulk franchise. So who's crazier there, Phoenix or Marvel's Kevin Feige? Speaking of Feige, he released that statement over the weekend that they're moving another direction, in essence, because Norton's not a giver on set. So, what, Joaquin Phoenix suddenly becomes Option A after the two years he's had? And isn't he retired? I have a hard time buying that he's the best choice, no offense to his abilities. And since it's Joss Whedon...hey, what about Nathan Fillion? We've heard they like him for Hank Pym aka Ant-Man, but if there's an opening, do yourself a favor and give that guy an excellent shot at glory for a change instead of potentially wasting it on a guy who flat-out buried his last movie, the surpisingly rich Two Lovers. Fillion may not be the biggest name in the room, but can you name anyone who doesn't like him?

He was So Freak'n Amazing as Bruce Banner/ The Hulk. Changing a MAJOR character like this when they are trying to set up this whole Marvel Movie Universe... its SOOO stupid... It was Bad enough the changed Rhody!

Fillion is an actor that no one can dislike. He has that screen presence that draws in crowds (see ABC's Castle and it's continuing rating climb), and has appeal to both men and women. Why he isn't in more movies, I have no idea.
