'Centurion' Adds Another Trailer To Its Collection

We've got one more trailer for Centurion, which hits theaters next month but will be on VOD beginning July 30th (I think this date's been pushed back a week). This trailer is Green Band, meaning it's approved for all audiences or something, but here's the thing: The Red Band trailer we showed you a couple weeks ago is not much more graphic than this. The film is the latest from Neil Marshall, a guy I'd like to see work from somebody else's script pretty soon. I think he's got skills, but they're more evident as a director than a writer. The Descent was cool, even if it did get a touch repetitive, but Doomsday was pretty bad. Except, of course, that it was cool to look at. It appears Centurion will be cool to look at, too, although the story might be stronger than Doomsday. But then, how could it not be? Centurion cuts your emmeffing head off in theaters beginning August 27th.

The cool thing about this is that it could be a "sandals and toga" movie that avoids the "Gladiator movie" stigma that "Gladiator" revisionistically smashed but ""Troy" and "Alexander" brought back. It's a small movie, for sure, and won't do what "Gladiator" did but at least on the small scale level along with TV shows like "Spartacus: Blood and Sand " and HBO's "Rome" it keeps that revisionism alive.
