Harrelson, Emma Stone Join 'Friends With Benefits'

The cast of the romantic comedy Friends with Benefits has ballooned today, with a sextet joining Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. There's also a possibility that Alex Rodriguez will make an appearance in the film, believe it or not, and if his weak televised steroids admission last year are any indication, he won't be much of an actor. The Wrap says that Patricia Clarkson, Richard Jenkins, the interminable Andy Samberg, and Jenna Elfman all have roles in the film and that director Will Gluck will get to direct his Easy A starlet Emma Stone again, who herself reunites with Zombieland co-star Woody Harrelson. Four of those are great choices for most things. Elfman I have no opinion of, and Samberg does ironic white guy raps once a week. Ho hum. So why does the film need three Oscar nominees in supporting roles? Well, simply, it's because Timberlake has never once sold movie tickets, this is a bigger leading role than he's ever had, and Kunis, as lovely as she is, can't be considered a big draw, either. So because they're a little limited, you spread around the laughs to people who are proven. Mission accomplished. The film shoots in New York and Los Angeles later this summer, and Screen Gems - which has really not distinguished itself very much in recent years - will release the romcom next year.
