Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 5:21AM Woody Allen's 'You Will Meet a Mild, Boring Trailer'
Woody Allen's You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger may be excellent, but it sure looks like the Woodman is drifting back into Melinda and Melinda territory based on this trailer. A better cast, sure, but I detectthe vague aroma of leftovers.

Maybe it's seeing Anthony Hopkins without his shirt or seeing Josh Brolin about four months overdue for a haircut or the narration, which, while a novel blast from the past, doesn't really zing. Whatever it is, I was looking forward to Tall Dark Stranger much more before I saw the trailer.
True, Woody is enjoying a comeback, but his comedies have been very sporadic since Deconstructing Harry and his dramas have been much, much better. I know he's coming off Vicky Cristina Barcelona, but that's the exception to the rule for his post-Mia Farrow comedies. Watch the trailer for yourself; I don't think it looks horrible, just average.
